Review 2011

Comment by Alex Barendregt (Organizer)

It is the most beautyful time of the year.
A time and a location where many friends meet just once a year.
It is the biggest present to me to see how friendship is happening and growing among the artists, photographers, models, visitors and also the festival crew.
I am very thankful that I am able to create this magical place with such a great community.

The World Bodypainting Festival 2011 is history and we are very honored to have artists from 42 nations registered for the World Awards.
The festival week was full of program highlights and the new location Pörtschach at the lake Wörthersee was colourfully inspired by the international crowd.
Before the main days with the world championships, there was the "WBF Academy", the extensive education program or the surreal ballroom "Body.Circus" and of course the book launch "Body Art Fashion".

Every change takes some patience and many thoughts to find the best for the participants and the audience. The WBF crew mastered the challange very well. We got a sensational but also constructive feedback with many new ideas. We can now keep on working for the 15th year celebration in 2012.

The WBF is not an individual person, it is a growing and changing formation.
Thanks to those who love this formation so much to come back every year.

The side events during the week were organised by the „WBF sound.institute".

This was the meeting point for artists, photographers, models and other participants, and a great possibility to meet old friends and make new ones.

The first big highlight was held on Wednesday evening. The "Body.Circus - the surreal ballroom" presented by Snazaroo took place this time in the old factory.

The WBF couture.award, the „Haute Couture" fashion contest, was aimed at designers who designed and worked out a dress in advance. After a stunning catwalk show, the winners 2011 were announced: the first place went to the label "Kauffeld & Jahn" from Germany, followed by "Winterberg Collection" from Germany. What would be the topic "Fashion" without outstanding runway shows? In order to guarantee a high level of the fashion experience, fashion shows by designers from Italy, Venezuela, Australia and England were held during the festival main days.

The Body Art Fashion Show "Farbkrieger" by Karala B. was showed on Saturday evening on the main stage. Artists from all around the world participated in the great fashion show and presented their interpretation of body art in combination with fashion and make-up.

The runway show by "lisa p." from London was also presented on the main stage.

"lisa p." brought the trends from the fashion town of Europe to the lake Wörthersee and also exhibited her designer clothing in the WBF fashion.park.

The designer and artist Efren Rojas from Venezuela had a very long way to travel and amazed the audience with his fashion show "km 1" on Sunday afternoon. His fashion show combined fashion with music, make-up and special effects, and took the guests onto a journey into a different world.

A great success was the Instant Fashion Show by the italian desingers Irene Sarzi Amade & Franco Vanzani. The show was held both on Saturday and on Sunday on the stage in Bodypaint City South. The audience could watch the models and make-up artists during the styling and transformation.
