WBF couture.award 2012

designer fashion contest at the World Bodypainting Festival

categories. With 30.000 visitors, the festival is one of the top events in Austria.

The WBF fashion.department brings together fashion interested people for one weekend from all around the world. Starting with the WBF fashion.park up to the WBF couture.award and different runway shows, the fashion program has a lot to offer.

The "WBF couture.award" 2012

The main days in „Bodypaint City" with the World Championship, the „World Awards", and other special categories, take place 6 – 8 July 2012. The WBF fashion.department organizes different activities like fashion shows, the fashion designer sales area "WBF fashion.park" and the "WBF couture.award" during the festival main days.

The WBF couture.award.2012 will be held on Sunday, July 8th, as one main part of the final day of the festival.

The WBF couture.award is aimed at fashion designers who would like to design and present a collection of 3 pieces focusing on the theme "Avantgarde" within the scope of the festival. The fashion contest enables designers to be part of an international competition and to make new connections from the industry.

Registration

• Registration is open till June 19^th 2012 and has to be done via the online form.
• The registration fee of €uro 50,- covers both the participation fee for the WBF couture.award 2012 and a 3 day pass for the whole festival weekend.
• When registering, the designer has to prove the existence of his own label. Furthermore, the designer has to prove that fashion collections have been designed under this label already.
• The registration includes: (1) registration form, (2) designer's biography, (3) short description of the label, (4) conceptual composition of the collection incl. 3 designs focusing on the theme „Avantgarde", incl. material and fabric ideas, (5) digital illustration (also including photos from finished collections).
• An ID number is issued to every designer who has completed the registration.
• After receiving the documents, they will be approved and the designer will be notified about the assessment via email.

Guidelines 

• The festival ground opens daily at 09:00. The participants can bring all materials to the venue and set up their work space.
• The designers attend a short briefing held by the festival crew in order to outline the contest guidelines, to hand in the outfits and to introduce the jury to the participants. The briefing starts at 11:00 and gives the attendees the possibility to ask any questions that are still open.
• The trial for the evening show on stage is at 12:00. The festival management is responsible for the music. Professional DJs play a set during the trial walk and the catwalk show.
• The participants have to be at their work spaces until 13:00. The fitting, make-up and hair styling starts at 13:30.
• Any preparations have to be finished until 15:00. The jury walks up to all participants according to ID number. During the presentation in front of the jury, the participating artist outlines the idea behind the outfits andcan answer any questions.
• Each designer is permitted to work with one assistant.
• After presenting the outfits in front of the jury, the catwalk presentations on stage take place. The festival management is responsible for the music. The catwalk presentations are held according to ID number. After presenting the first outfit, the model changes into the second one.
• The winner of the „WBF couture.award.2012" will be announced after the catwalk show.

WBF Fashion Show  -   on the catwalk

• The WBF fashion.show.2012 starts at 16:30. The presentation order is carried out according to ID number.
• The fashion show is a continuous catwalk presentation. 
• Decisions on music are made by the festival management.
• The winner of the WBF couture.award.2012 will be announced after the fashion show.

The prize

• The winner is awarded with a trophy such as the wbf world awards.  
• The winner wins a trip to Berlin incl. flights, accommodation and the entry to one fashion show at the Berlin Fashion Week 2012!
• The second place receives a stay for 2 people at the famous design hotel „The Ring" in Vienna for two nights incl. the entry to the Vienna Fashion Week 2012.
  
• All participants get a certificate.
• All participants receive a make up package by "Mac Pro"
  
  

Schedule overview

• from 09:00: entry to the festival ground. Participants can set up their work spaces.
• 11:00: short briefing, handing in of the designs, introduction of the jury members.
• 12:00: trial walk on stage.
• 13:30 – 15:00: Preperation of the model: fitting, make-up, hair styling.
• 15:00 – 16:00: presentation in front of the jury.
• from 16:30: the WBF fashion.show on the catwalk.

• The new festival grounds of "Bodypaint City" are in a park, which is open to the public.
  For a better overview, we divide the park in 4 zones. The tents are marked with the zone and a number.
• Access: Parking places for participants are available in special zones. The access to these parking zones on the main days is only possible with an artist badge.
• The registration desk at the festival entrance is open on Thursday 30th June from 11.00am – 7pm and during the festival main days from 09:00am. The designer can pick up the badge for himself and the assistant.
• The work spaces are located in the WBF fashion.park and are allocated by the organisers.
• After colour splash, the after show party on Sunday: all participants are invited to party with the festival crew after the firework. Our DJs will be behind the turntables.
