WBF shopping day in the ATRIO
World Bodypainting Festival @ Shopping Center ATRIO
The largest shopping center in the region, the ATRIO, will be transformed into a bodypainting studio from June 29th to July 5th before the festivals main days.
"The future in the past" is an exhibition project of a new art movement brought together by its founder Ennio Bettoni from Italy. It's an exhibition of artwork, that has been carried out on a body, then transferred onto wood panels using different techniques: photographic and pictorial. This way it progresses to create a different result, full of its own life, with its own meaning.
It's perfect to combine your shopping day with bodypainting on the special days June 29th and 30th with live demonstration, facepainting and airbrush tattoos for kids.
The highlight of the week is the Thursday, July 5th. You can watch the artists preparing their models for the big body art fashion show under the title "For the Love of Culture". Australian Artist Karala B will work together with Birgit Mörtl (Austria) and Bella Volen (Bulgaria) with hair designs from Miss CoCo to express the beautiful mixture of culture surrounding the borders of Austria, Slovenia and Italy. Twelve models will be transformed in front of the audience with a combination of dramatic fashion and body art for this unique fashion show and will present the designs on the catwalk throughout the day.
Tip for ATRIO visitors:
From June 1st to July 5th you get advanced tickets for the World Bodypainting Festival in Pörtschach, July 6th - 8th daily from 11.00 am to midnight. Tickets include all music and show programs.

Fine Art Exhibition
Fine Art exhibition in Bodypaint City
The WBF presents every year a fine art exhibition in Bodypaint City. In 2010 we featured Emma Hack, Filippo Ioco and Michael Rosner. This is the unique chance to see those 3 outstanding, diverse artists brought together in one exhibition.
We will continue the exhibition in 2011 and will give other artists the possibilitie to exhibit their works.

Filippo Ioco is one of the most important and outstanding body painting artists of all time. His work covers an extraordinary range of styles and ideas, and is groundbreaking across the whole spectrum. It is his combination of experience, understanding, inspiration, innovation and courage that has kept his work at the top for almost two decades. Filippo Ioco has been doing professional Bodypainting for 20 years now, but has been a fine artist/ painter all his life. Therefore he is able to carry that knowledge, technique and style over into his body art, which sets him aside from other body painters. He loves working with human figures

Emma Hack is a very diverse Multimedia Artist, Skin Illustrator, Photographer and Sculptor. Emma Hack is exploring the notion of camouflage. For her Mandala collection, Emma Hack has painstakingly camouflaged the human form into her hand- painted Mandala designs and she is drawn to the female form as a sense of self.
Her present works encompass past traditions of body painting used as a way of camouflage, taking the journey a step further with the evolving styles of body art. In its most ancient form, body painting is an expression of rich cultural and spiritual traditions; the human body representing energy and life force as opposed to object. It is the idea of energy and transformation associated with the human body which is the underlying current of her work. At the World Bodypainting Festival her art will be presented on 6 screens, celebrating 21 great years of body art. It is a journey from her first brushstrokes, about her big successes to her newest Mandala- and Wallpaper Collections.
An overview of her exhibition "Emma Hack - Celebrating 21 years of Body Art" already gives a short impression about the variety of this artist:
Screen1 - Body Art Beginnings 1990 - 2000
Screen2 - Calendar, Fashion and Advertising Works 2000
Screen3 - Exhibition 2002 - 2010
Screen4 - Inspired by Yoga 2003/2006, Panoramic Bodies 2009
Screen5 - Wallpaper Collection 2005/ 2010
Screen6 - Native Mandala documentary 2009

Michael Rosner is an American artist from California who worked as a painter, sculptor and carpenter before beginning the series of body paintings in 2006. In addition to those live models, Michael Rosner is known for painting on "unconventional" surfaces including elaborate paintings on real leaves with hand selected species collected each fall throughout California. Michael Rosner's work is known for his complex layered style along with his distinctive visual influences that combine architecture and sacred geometry juxtaposed with either human anatomy or the anatomy of objects found in nature.
