"World Bodypainting Festival ®" 2004

A few words of thanks:

The seventh year itch has left a wet mark on the festival. I hope that means that we have paid our dues for the next 7 years. Someone up there must have been following our water theme. It realy shows how dedicated you all are when we see you huddled under umbrellas, ferrying models to the stage, dancing in the rain, and doing everything possible to show your art. 15.000 Visitors came anyway to watch the artworks.

Last year we renamed the festival to the World Bodypainting Festival. And this year we can see, that is what it has truely become. We now have artist from 36 nations participating in the festival, which is a record number. We also have exhibitors from some of the biggest product producers in this industry. This all contributes to the festival not only growing but developing and shaping into an ever changing experience for us all. I am very proud to be able to welcome you all here.

Last year I spoke to you about our obligation to get bodypainting recognized as an artform. This effort has been reflected in many TV reports, documentations and publications. Two years ago, on your aniciative, we created what was the european, and is now the world bodypainting association. An assosiation of artists, models and photographers all working to further explore and develope this artform. More than a hundred artists are now members in this association, all working, along with myself and the festival, to carry on this ideal. While the festival has nearly ended for this year, the assosiation carries on. Maybe we will be able to welcome some of you to us.

The festival won't run so perfect if I wouldn't have such a great team. This crew is the best ever and many many thanks for your work.

A special thanks to all of my helpers and suporters. Also a big thank you to the judges who have maybe the hardest job here.

See you next year in Seeboden, Austria !

With the helicopter visitors were able to get an overview of the festival and the region around the lake "Millstättersee"

The Nano Speed Needle, a proto type with an extravagant shape was presented by Dr. Martin Mai, from the company KKG in Vienna.

After the winner presentation on sunday evening, the big fire dance show started at 9.30 p.m.

"Burning Colours" was the title of the show.

Litureally, because they exploded on our stage and set the festival grounds on fire.

The show was done by Art of Colours, Cosmic Circle and Pyro Performance.

The World Bodypainting Festival ended with an amazing music synchronized firework display.

Our photographer Ulf Scherling made also some impressions from the other side of the lake.

The photo galleries, videos and reports will be growing soon. Please be patient.
