Bodypainting is an art, and art should get captured. To achieve that the Bodypainting Magazine was born and I am proud that we are a partner of it. The magazine is a voice for the festival and also for the World Bodypainting Assocation. The association is getting bigger and bigger, it inovates new ideas and is becoming the leading organization of it’s kind. We hope that the festival inspires more people and more interest in joining the association.

What remains to me is to just sincerely thank you. Thank you to all participants, to great partners and sponsors, and to a perfect team with my wonderful wife, who supports me a lot all year.

At the following sites you will find a huge report with thousands of photos and lots of video clips from the festival 2005. The report will be updated during the following weeks. So, please give us some time to update the information about all the artists and models from the festival.

The weather this year was again not perfect. The big heat was missing, which was not bad, because even more visitors came to the festival grounds. The last presentations on Saturday were a bit windy but the happyness of all the people was a great vibe reguardless. Our team and lots of participants danced the rain away on the stage into the night while the music group was setting up for their gig.

There have been 20.600 visitors ! on the festival grounds this year admiring the artworks of artists from 40 nations.

But lets start with the beginning of the festival week, which starded this year on the 18th July

We organized 11 workshops in different methods. From bodypainting, facepainting, special effects, henna, hair design, photography up to digital artwork.

Professionals tought in small groups to extend their knowledge and abilities. Different workshops were sponsored by companies like Paradise AQ by Mehron, Fantasy Worldwide and Blond & Braun.

On Thuesday, the 19th of July we opened the exhibition "Bodypainting. Another Expression" at 7.00 pm.
The exhibition was a premiere and organized for during the festival by Karala Barendregt.

The exhibition showed works of artists from the World Body Painting Association, who interpretered the human body and extensions of bodypainting themes in different mediums.

22 artists showed paintings on canvas, sculptures, art photos and videos. Arround 200 visitors came to the vernissage and another 300 visited the exhibition on the upcoming two days in the culture hall Seeboden.

On wednesday we offered a special 3D slide show Breathtaking photos recorded with special techniques and sensationall effects were presented by Dr. Heinz Jungmeier and Herwig Straub.

Later Hollywood make up artist Bernd Rantscheff showed us a lot of 3D impressions around mother earth, macro photos, the univese and his work as a special effects make up artist in his studios.

The hall was totally full and the audience was amazed by the work.

The bar Point is already the traditional meeting place for artists during the festival week.

Thursday was another party in the Point bar. We celebrated the 60 aniversary of Kryolan with Sebastian Langer from Berlin.

The main days were from Friday to Sunday. More than 20.000 visitors admired the artwork of nearly 180 bodypainting artists coming from 40 nations worldwide.

The quality of the works from all participants was incredible. The the judging for the World Bodypainting Award in the 3 categories got of course more difficult.

The World Bodypainting Award is given every year in three categories + one new special prize, the Fluoro Award.

At our exhibition area, visitors could buy and test the latest products. The who is who of the bodypainting industry showed their products at the festival grounds and were happy about the stampeed of visitors.

A world premiere was the "Fluoro Special Award", the bodypainting night contest for UV effects

14 artists from 10 nations were allowed to take part in that contest. Bodies were lit with special colours under UV light.

Because the festival was under the theme "World of Music" on the first two main days, we showed international music artist with lots of different styles of music.

So we were able to welcome artists such as the ARIA nominated blues musicians Don Hopkins and Teo Wonders, Los dos Paraguayos, Vero La Reine from Cameroon, Carinthian Pipes and Drums, Greg Bal from Hungary, Soundscapes of Anamaneh, Xtra Ordinary, DJ Junior und DJ Matt Emulsion from London, DJ DNL, Art of Voice, and the Bad Powells from Austria.

A bodypainting weekend of boundery pushing, record breaking and pure fun ended and we are already looking forward to the next year from 17th - 23rd July 2006!
