Since 1998 Europe’s most colourful event has taken place every year in Seeboden, Austria.
The “World Bodypainting Festival” is the biggest art event in the bodypainting theme and thousands of visitors admire the wonderful work of the participants.

Aritsts from 40 nations worldwide come to this unique event and put body art into the mountain and lake scenery. The festival week starts on the 14th July. Before the main days we provide a full program with workshops by the Festival-Academy, side events and parties at different locations.

Festival-Academy:
Workshop- and demonstration program / from 14th – 17th July

The Festival-Academy organizes workshops that are sponsored by our partners like Kryolan, Brennig, Paradise AQ by Mehron, MAC Cosmetics, MIST Stockholm, Eulenspiegel, Fantasy Worldwide, Blond and Braun or Wolfe Brothers, to mention a few.

Only the best in their professions teach the classes. And because you never finish learning, the workshops offer possibilities not only for beginners, also for advanced artists to further their knowledge. Group arrangements for schools can be organized on request.

The Festival-Academy offers classes in the areas of bodypainting, airbrush bodypainting, facepainting, special effects, body deco, beauty make-up, uv effects as well as photography, digital artwork and more.

The demonstration program takes place on the 17th July in the culture hall Seeboden.

Roundtrip and adventure program 14th – 17th July

For all participants or visitors to the World Bodypainting Festival, who are already in Seeboden before and want to get to know the region, we offer a selective program with roundtrips, bike and hiking tours. Have you ever seen Austrias highest mountain the Grossglockner,
or the 200m high Malta dam ?
Venice is also just a short drive away from Seeboden. The program is very exciting.

Meeting places and party locations

Some bars, restaurants and other locations create a nice surrounding for festival visitors. Recognized meeting places are the bars “Point”
or “Coyote Ugly”.

The party locoation on the 16th is of course the castle Sommeregg where the magical and crazy fantasy ball “BodyCircus” takes place.

The main days of the festival are from Friday to Sunday, 18 - 20 July, daily from 11.00 am. The artists start painting in the public park and later in the day the artwork is judged by a professional jury. The models are then presented to the audience on the main stage. During the day lots of music and show acts are presented. There are music concerts on program till late.

World Bodypainting Award, the world championships for bodypainting artits

At the world championships during the main days artists from 40 nations worldwide compete.

The world awards are given in 3 main categories
- Brush/Sponge
- Airbrush and
- Special effects, as well as one
- World Fluoro Award, the night contest for UV effects

Additionally there will be semi-professional contests in the categories
- Brush/Sponge
- Airbrush
The themes 2008 are:
"Science - World of Wonders" und
"Asia - Empires going - Empires growing"

World Fluoro Award

Beside the 3 main categories during the day, the night contest “World Fluoro Award“ will be presented.
Fluoroscent colours are used on the models and they are lit with backlights to glow on the stage when presenting to the audience. Spectacular effects are guaranteed.

World Facepainting Award
und Special Effects Make up

The facepainting part of the festival will be extended in 2008 with the category Special Effects Make Up.
There is now a clear dividing of the classic facepainting and the use of masks and special effects parts.

The photo days with the international photo contest
“World Bodypainting PHOTO Award” presented by Nikon

Bodypainting is art and before this kind of art disappears it should get captured for the future. All artists, models and photographers receive the photo catalogue with the best photos for free.

There are 250 limited photo tickets. For the participants of the photo contest we provide a special restricted area with different photo sets.

Here the most fantastic creations are born and sent to the photo contest. The area will also be re-designed for 2008 and will be combined with the stage and jury area into a bigger and better area for both, artist with models and photographers.

The days before the main days are very interesting for photographers as well. The Festival-Academy offers photo workshops, classes for digital artwork and everything around the body and body art.
