Since 1998 Europe’s most colourful event has taken place in Seeboden Austria.
The “World Bodypainting Festival” is the largest Art event in the Bodypainting theme and spreads the art form to thousands of interested visitors each year.

Now the Festival is expanding with a vibrant and dedicated team in South Korea to host a second event.

The World Bodypainting Festival with the Asian Awards will be held in the World Cup Stadium, in ‘Colorful Daegu’ from 25 - 31 August 2008 for the first time.

Much of what people know from the main event in Austria will be carried on in South Korea.

 

Festival-Academy:
Workshop- and demonstration program / from 25th – 28th August

The Festival-Academy organizes workshops that are sponsored or presented by our partners.

Only the best in their professions teach the classes. And because you never finish learning, the workshops offer possibilities not only for beginners, also for advanced artists to further their knowledge. Group arrangements for schools can be organized on request.

The Festival-Academy takes place in the Daegu Health Collage.



The Festival-Academy offers classes in the areas of bodypainting, airbrush bodypainting, facepainting, special effects, beauty make-up, uv effects as well as photography and more.

 

 

"BodyCircus”, the shrill fantasy ball in the event hall of the "Novotel" hotel (Downtown Daegu) 27 August 2008

The evenings are full of socialising as well as a major highlight on Wednesday 27th August with the ‘BodyCircus ®’, a costumed fantasy ball in the new "Novotel" hotel (Downtown Daegu). Guests will be arriving in costumes ranging from Bodypainting, body decoration and masks, to extreme make-up and fantasy fashion. International DJ’s, shows, costume prizes and entertainment all night will guarantee a magic night in Colorful Daegu.
The ‘BodyCircus’ promises to be an evening of magic, of pushing boundaries and of letting imagination run free.


 

 

The festival main days from 29 – 31 August

The main days of the festival are from Friday to Sunday, 29 - 31 August, daily from 11.00 am.

The artists start painting in the middle of the second biggest stadium in Asia, the World Cup Stadium Daegu.

Later in the day the artwork is judged by a professional jury. The models are then presented to the audience on the main stage. During the day lots of music and show acts are presented.

Asian Bodypainting Award, the international contest for bodypainting artists

At the Asian Championships during the main days artists from many countries worldwide are allowed to compete.

The contest awards 3 main categories
- Brush/Sponge
- Airbrush and
- Special effects

Additionally there will be semi-professional contests in the categories
- Brush/Sponge
- Airbrush

The themes 2008 are:
"Myths and Fairy Tales" and
"Future World" on the final day.

There are two different categories, the classic facepainting part and a special effects make up category.

The trade show area and the market

In the trade show tent most of the biggest brands in the bodypainting industry as well as airbrush, special effects and bodypainting accessories show and sell their product range.
Here you can find the latest product lines to test and of course to buy. All registred exhibitors are listed online on our website.

The market offers products such as jewllery, hand craft and more.

The photo days with the international photo contest
“Asian Bodypainting PHOTO Award”

Bodypainting is art and before this kind of art disappears it should get captured for the future. All artists, models and photographers receive the photo catalogue with the best photos for free.


There are 250 limited photo tickets. For the participants of the photo contest we provide a special restricted area with different photo sets.

Here the most fantastic creations are born and sent to the photo contest.

The “Asian Bodypainting Photo Award” follows also the structure of the original event in Austra and will be given in the categories “Photo print” and “Digital Art” and is also awarded with cash and product prizes. Additionally the winners get, like the artists, a wonderful, handmade glass trophy, which is specially produced for the festival.
